Activities
The activities of DCA are divided into two namely, enforcement and testing.The Enforcement unit undertakes issue, suspension and cancellation of licenses, following provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and the Drugs Rules, 1945. It also undertakes prosecution against the offenders under provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. Enforcement unit implements various other allied Acts such as The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, The Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisement) Act, 1954, The Drugs Price Control Order, 2013etc.
The testing unit undertakes testing of samples of drugs purchased by Government Institutions and from trade/market in order to ensure quality of drugs.
Drugs Control Administration is also attached with another unit, namelyTripura State Pharmaceutical Price Monitoring and Resource Unit (TPMRU) which was registered as per The Societies Registration Act, 1860 on 26/07/2019, as per the guidelines of National Pharmaceuticals Pricing Authority (NPPA), Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India.
